Youth Programs Committee Member and Chief Financial Officer Captain Sheldon Margolis, USN(Ret) presented the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal Award to Sea Cadet Petty Officer First Class Iroda Muhammadiyeva attached to Michael Monsoor Battalion for outstanding service and excellence at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA on March 9, 2024.
Youth Programs Committee Member and Board of Director; Senior Chief Jeff Wylie, USN(Ret) visited Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton to present Sea Cadet Corps Michael Monsoor Battalion’s; Cadet Petty Officer Second Class Elyor Muhammadiyev the Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal Award for outstanding service and excellence on April 8, 2023.
San Diego Council’s Youth Programs Chairman Shane Steinfeld hosted three United States Naval Sea Cadets attached to the Gunfighter Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar at the 2022 Marine Corps Air Show. The Air Show was the first held since the COVID Pandemic two years ago, where the San Diego Council participated in hosting 200 families and friends in its Chalet on Sept 24, 2022. The Sea Cadets where able to enjoy having front row seating to the largest and most spectacular aerodynamic show on the west coast that included the Navy’s Blue Angels. Bravo Zulu to the Sea Cadets Commanding Officer – LT Dusty Vereker for his dedication to our Navy’s future leaders.
Youth Program’s Chairman Shane Steinfeld revitalized the Council’s Youth Programs after a two year hiates. Upon assuming the role, he immediately established his team on the Youth Programs Committee and connected with the United States Navy Region Sea Cadet Corps Commanding Officer and the NJROTC and MCJROTC Senior Instructors at five local high schools in the community to coordinate the presentation of the Youth Medal Awards. Most recently presenting the award to the Sea Cadet Corps Michael Monsoor Battlation Commanding Officer LCDR Valencia Jones for Cadet Jonathan Lee on June 3, 2022.
