Officer Assignments include: Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment Maintenance Officer (ALREMO) USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71) March 2001-February 2003 and USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76) March 2003-September 2005. He served as OIC and Training Officer at the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training (CNATT) Det Lakehurst, NJ September 2005 to January 2009. Personnel Exchange Program Officer, French Aircraft Carrier Charles DeGaulle (R-91) in Toulon, France, February 2009-September 2011. In October 2011, he reported as Fleet Liaison Officer at COMNAVAIRSYSCOM PMA 251, with follow-on orders September 2013 to USS CARL VINSON (CVN70) as the Aircraft Handling Officer. In June 2015, he reported to Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific as the Force Aviation Fuels and Aircraft Launch and Recovery Lead N433. August 2018, he reported as Executive Officer at CNATT Unit North Island and assumed command in February 2020. in June 2021, he reported to USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN as the Weapons Officer (Gun Boss).
Captain Caldwell is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering. He earned his Graduate Degree with distinction from Florida Institute of Technology in Acquisitions and Contracts in May 2013 and obtained his JPME-I in May 2019 from the Naval War College, including a Graduate Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies. He is also a graduate from the Defense Language Institute (French) and is a member of the Acquisition Corps with LCL Level III and PM Level II.
Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy Commendation Medal (8 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (5 awards), French Commendation Medal and various service campaign medals. He is a recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Leadership Awards onboard USS RONALD REAGAN, USS CARL VINSON, and USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN in 2004, 2014, and 2022 respectively. Captain Caldwell and his wife Eve have four children: Francois, Danielle, Kyle, and Kaitlyn.
