Military Spouse Appreciation Day
Military Spouse Appreciation Day
May is a special month for those in and out of the military as it is marked as Military Appreciation Month. Not only do we remember the sacrifices of all the men and women who have served our country on Memorial Day, but the month also holds several other special military events like Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Armed Forces Day.
Military Spouse Appreciation Day was first recognized in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan and has been celebrated ever since. We know that military spouses keep their homes’ fire burning, so we want to acknowledge their hard work because we know their job isn’t easy. They have the greatest impact on our lives and our military communities.
We want to appreciate:
Your ability to hope each and every day. Not only hoping everything will turn out okay but, being okay no matter how things turn out. Your optimism makes more of a difference than you know, especially for your family.
Your courage to keep your home and family together. You are what makes service members complete. You are what they continue to fight for.
Your ability to open your arms to your military family. We know it isn’t easy to go up to a stranger, introduce yourself, and start talking, so we appreciate it when you do.
Your smile and ability to create normalcy, even when it’s hard to. It’s what keeps your family and everyone around you going. No matter how busy or crazy life might be you always make sure to turn your house into a home and make it feel like the safest place on earth.
Your dedication, because we know being a military spouse is not easy, but you still show up and contribute to conferences, balls, and volunteer to help with events. You understand that the presence of a real person makes all the difference in the world.
Most of all, we appreciate your uniqueness because there is no such thing as a “typical spouse.” But we know every spouse has one thing in common… you love someone in a uniform and you will make endless sacrifices to make sure they have what they need.
