Navy to Send Six to USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials
Six standout Navy men’s swimming team members are gearing up to participate in the USA Swimming Olympic Team Trials in Indianapolis, Indiana. Taking place from June 15 to 23, this event marks a significant milestone as it will be held in Lucas Oil Stadium, the home ground of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
A Return to Indianapolis
This edition of the trials is notable for being the first time they’re hosted within a football stadium, marking a return to Indianapolis after over two decades since the last event in 2000.
Catch the Action
Fans can catch the excitement as the trials will be televised daily on NBC, USA Network, or Peacock, ensuring broad coverage of this prestigious sporting event.
Qualifying for Excellence
The qualifying period for these trials spanned from Nov. 30, 2022, to June 4, 2024. Swimmers had to achieve qualifying times in a long course meter (50-meter length) pool to secure their spots in the competition.
Navy’s Strong Contingent
Leading the charge is Matt Murphy, who captained the Navy team this year. He secured his spot in the 2024 trials with an impressive time in the 200 breaststroke, surpassing the qualifying standard and setting the stage for his upcoming challenge.
