U.S. Navy Rescues Civilian Mariner Reported Overboard

In a recent maritime operation, sailors from the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (IKECSG) undertook a daring rescue mission to save a civilian mariner who had been reported overboard from a motor vessel on May 30.

Swift Response to Distress Call

Upon receiving the distress call from the civilian vessel regarding the man-overboard situation, an MH-60 Sea Hawk helicopter belonging to Helicopter Maritime Strike (HSM) Squadron 74 and deployed on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (IKE) promptly initiated a search and rescue (SAR) operations.

Successful Rescue Operation

The highly skilled aircrew swiftly located the individual in distress, utilizing a basket to lift them from the precarious situation and transporting them safely to the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) (IKE). The mariner received immediate medical evaluation and treatment aboard the ship, ensuring their well-being.

Rear Adm. Marc Miguez, commander of IKECSG, Carrier Strike Group 2, emphasized the paramount importance of rendering aid to distressed mariners, highlighting it as a fundamental mission undertaken with utmost seriousness by the entire carrier strike group. He praised the rapid and professional response of the aircrew, showcasing their preparedness and dedication to such critical operations.
